Kunimitsu has been revealed as the first new fighter for Tekken 7’s Season 4 Pass. This is a character that hasn’t been seen since Tekken Revolution, released in 2013.
If we exclude spinoffs, then Kunimitsu hasn’t been playable since Tekken 2. Indeed, it’s been over 25 years since Kunimitsu has appeared in a mainline Tekken title back in 1995.
As it’s been such a long time, it’s not surprising to see Kunimitsu sporting a new look. Although she is still donning her unmistakable mask, she is also seen without it during the trailer.
Kunimitsu tends to be defined in the Tekken series by her speed and agility. This comes at the price of poor strength and range on her attacks, however.
It should be noted that the Kunimitsu in Tekken 7 is actually the daughter of the original Kunimitsu that appeared in Tekken and Tekken 2. It appears that this new Kunimitsu isn’t blind, unlike her mother.
Tekken fans will also be gaining access to the Vermillion Gates stage sometime in the fourth quarter of 2020 along with Kunimitsu. Exact release dates are not yet available.
Later in the first quarter of 2021, Tekken 7 Season 4 Pass owners will also gain access to another character and one more stage. These characters and stages will likely also be available individually without the Season 4 Pass.
Finally, Season 4 will be implementing new moves for all characters, “Tekken Prowess,” an updated user interface, a renewed ranking system, and upgrades to the online gameplay. These updates will be available for everyone and for free.
“Tekken Prowess” is essentially a measure of a player’s overall skill in Tekken 7. This value isn’t limited to a player’s skill with their main character.
